Delfina Rocha
(Fortaleza – CE, Brazil, 1962)
Self-taught photographer. Her first encounter with the practice of photography was when she set up a small lab to develop and copy black and white films, in the early eighties.
Between the years 1982 and 1986, she was the assistant of renowned photographer Chico Albuquerque, which enabled her introduction in the area more professionally. She moved to the Southeast of the country in 1987, where she worked as scene photographer in films and advertising photographer in Rio and in Sao Paulo until 1993. She opened her studio in Fortaleza in 1995, where she still works, aiming at meeting the advertising market and, mainly, the fashion editorials and companies.
After 30 years dedicated to commercial photography, in 2015 she returned to her studies and the practice of authorial photography, by participating in diverse formations and study groups on contemporaneous images. In 2019, she joined the collective “Sol para Mulheres” (Sun for Women), an initiative of Brazil Image Gallery (CE). She recently went to the University to take up Philosophy.
