Georges Dumas è nato a Chartres nel 1975.
È autodidatta. Fu nella fotografia che fece il suo primo debutto artistico, equipaggiato con una economica reflex a pellicola e un ingranditore installato in una stanza dove non era mai possibile raggiungere l’oscurità totale. Di questo periodo conserva il gusto di superare i vincoli tecnici affermando uno stile personale.
La svolta nel suo approccio artistico ha avuto luogo quando si è convertito alla tecnologia digitale a metà degli anni 2000. L’elaborazione computerizzata delle immagini gli ha permesso di conciliare la sua pratica di fotografo con la sua vasta immaginazione di visitatore di musei, artista visivo e musicista elettronico, lo ha portato ad andare oltre la sola arte digitale per intraprendere la strada della tecnica mista.
“Nell’era delle tecnologie digitali, non potevo essere solo un pittore o un fotografo. Le mie “pittografie” abbattono i confini tra le tecniche e offrono un’arte ibrida decisamente contemporanea.”
Sono nato nel 1975 in una piccola città della campagna francese e sono arrivato a Parigi nel 1992 per i miei studi (storia, inglese e letteratura). Sono un artista professionista dal 2007, con oltre 80 mostre in Francia e in Europa.
Il mio approccio artistico è al tempo stesso semplice e complesso. Sebbene il mio lavoro ritragga un’estetica figurativa che privilegia la chiarezza, lo fa attraverso una complessa miscela di fotografia, arte digitale e pittura acrilica. Il risultato è una tecnica mista che chiamo “pittografia”.
Le mie composizioni evidenziano la fragilità del corpo umano. Trasformo i miei modelli in sculture virtuali sostituendone la pelle con materiali minerali per rappresentare il passare del tempo.

Georges Dumas è un fotografo visivo nato nel 1975. Vive e lavora ad Aubervilliers dal 2010. Il suo studio si trova in un magazzino affittato dall’associazione di artisti OPAZ.
Dal 2007 espone il suo lavoro in Francia e in Europa, con mostre personali e collettive in gallerie, saloni e fiere. Tra i circa ottanta eventi a cui ha partecipato si ricordano le art shows Fotofever, Art Up! e Art Montpellier, e le fiere MacParis, Solid’Art, Figuration Critique, Puls’Art e ArtCité.
È rappresentato in Francia dalle gallerie Pandem’Art (Béthune) e Angel Arts (Parigi). Per le vendite internazionali, lavora attraverso le piattaforme artistiche Rise Art, Singulart e Saatchi.
Con altri 6 artisti ha fondato il movimento Transfiguring nel dicembre 2014 e ne è uno dei principali animatori. A lui si deve il testo del libro pubblicato nel 2018 che presenta l’approccio artistico del gruppo e la maggior parte dei testi dei media. Tiene regolarmente conferenze sul posto di Transfiguring all’interno della fotografia contemporanea.
Dopo la pubblicazione del suo lavoro nel novembre 2019 sulla rivista Niepcebook, inizia una collaborazione con la casa editrice Corridor Eléphant come autore di testi su altri artisti; nel dicembre 2021 la stessa casa editrice pubblica una monografia di 178 pagine che ripercorre i suoi primi 15 anni di attività artistica. All’inizio del 2022 si è tenuta una mostra retrospettiva di sei settimane presso la Chapelle Saint-Pry di Béthune. Dopo questa grande mostra, Georges Dumas ha realizzato un centinaio di opere su tela, proseguendo la sua esplorazione dei materiali e della figura umana…
Georges Dumas est un photographe plasticien né en 1975. Il vit et travaille à Aubervilliers depuis 2010. Son atelier se situe dans un entrepôt loué par l’association d’artistes OPAZ.
Il présente son travail en France et en Europe depuis 2007 à travers des expositions personnelles et collectives en galerie, des salons et des foires. Parmi les quelque quatre-vingts événements auxquels il a participé, on peut mentionner les foires Fotofever, Art Up ! et Art Montpellier ou les salons MacParis, Solid’Art, Figuration Critique, Puls’Art et ArtCité.
Il est représenté en France par les galeries Pandem’Art (Béthune) et Angel Arts (Paris). Pour les ventes à l’international, il passe par les plateformes artistiques Rise Art, Singulart et Saatchi.

Georges Dumas is a visual artist born in 1975. His work combines photography, digital painting and acrylic glazing. He lives and works in Aubervilliers (Greater Paris). His studio is located in a warehouse within an artist-runspace called OPAZ.
He has been exhibiting his work in France and Europe since 2007, through solo and group gallery shows, salons and art fairs. Among the 80+ events in which he has participated are the Fotofever, Art Up! and Art Montpellier art shows, and the MacParis, Solid’Art, Figuration Critique, Puls’Art and ArtCité art fairs.
He is represented in France by the galleries Pandem’Art (Béthune) and Angel Arts (Paris). For international sales, he goes through the art platforms Rise Art, Singulart and Saatchi.
With 6 other artists, he founded the Transfiguring movement in December 2014 and is one of its main animators.
